Auto Loan Calculator Pakistan
Calculate monthly EMI, total markup, and total cost for car financing in Pakistan. Enter car price, down payment, KIBOR rate, and tenure to see your auto loan installment.
Introduction
Buying a car on installments is common in Pakistan, but understanding the true cost is essential. Auto financing rates are usually linked to KIBOR (Karachi Interbank Offered Rate), and the final monthly payment depends on the car price, down payment, markup rate, and tenure. State Bank of Pakistan caps auto financing at 70% of vehicle value, meaning a minimum 30% down payment at most banks [citation:11]. Meezan Car Ijarah, however, accepts 15% down payment for salaried applicants [citation:1][citation:11].
What is this calculator?
The Auto Loan Calculator Pakistan computes your monthly installment (EMI), total markup paid, and total payment over the loan tenure. It uses the standard reducing balance EMI formula, which most Pakistani banks follow for car financing.
Formula
EMI = P × r × (1 + r)^n / [(1 + r)^n − 1]
Where P = financed amount, r = monthly markup rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100), n = number of monthly installments.
How to use the calculator
- Enter the car price (PKR).
- Enter the down payment percentage (30% for most banks, 15% for Meezan).
- Enter the annual markup rate (KIBOR + bank spread, e.g., 15%).
- Enter the tenure in months (usually 12–60 months).
- Click Calculate EMI.
Practical Pakistan-specific example
Example: Car price Rs. 2,000,000, 30% down payment, 15.59% markup, 60 months tenure
- Down payment = 2,000,000 × 30% = Rs. 600,000
- Financed amount = Rs. 1,400,000
- Monthly markup rate = 15.59% ÷ 12 = 1.299%
- EMI = approximately Rs. 33,741 per month [citation:16]
- Total payment = 33,741 × 60 = Rs. 2,024,463
- Total markup = Rs. 624,463
Factors affecting the result
- KIBOR: Auto financing rates are linked to 1-Year KIBOR, which changes with monetary policy [citation:1].
- Down payment: Higher down payment reduces financed amount and EMI.
- Tenure: Longer tenure lowers EMI but increases total markup.
- Bank spread: Banks add 2.5% to 5.5% over KIBOR [citation:16].
Common mistakes
- Ignoring the total markup and focusing only on EMI.
- Forgetting insurance, processing fees, and other charges.
- Assuming fixed rates when most auto loans are KIBOR-linked.
- Not checking the minimum income requirement (usually Rs. 35,000–60,000 per month).
Who can use the calculator
- Car buyers: Planning monthly budget for auto financing.
- Bank customers: Comparing offers from different banks.
- Overseas Pakistanis: Planning car purchase for family.
